Supporting Student Success: A Shared Partnership Between Home And School: Arabic-Language Parent Presentation (Thursday, May 1, 6:30 PM)

On Thursday, May 1, our Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) Wejdan Osman will host an Arabic Language presentation for parents. In this presentation, she will discuss a variety of topics and strategies for parents to use at home to support their children’s success at school. This is a rescheduling of the presentation that was originally planned for February, but was postponed due to a severe winter storm. We hope to see many Arabic-speaking parents at this event.

Our Grade 6 students are planning to have a Cupcake Sale on Wednesday, May 14th to raise funds for their end of the year field trip! All proceeds from the sale will go towards this trip as this will bring the overall costs down significantly. If you would like to send in a donation of cupcakes to help our cause, we would appreciate it! They can be homemade or bought from the store. We just ask that they are nut-free.

We ask that the cupcakes be brought to the school the morning of Wednesday, May 14th. We will collect them from you in the school entrance from 8-8:30am. Please label all containers and lids with your student’s name so that we may be able to return these containers to you.

Information from OSTA (For parents of children on yellow school bus)

Ottawa Student Transportation (OSTA) has implemented an opt-out process to enhance bus routing and transportation planning for the 2025-2026 school year.

If your child(ren) will not require school bus transportation next school year, please complete the electronic opt-out form to inform OSTA that a seat is not needed. This will help optimize services and minimize disruptions. Requests for reinstated service can be made anytime through OSTA’s Transportation Issues Form, and is subject to availability and eligibility.

The opt-out form is now available on OSTA’s website. The deadline to apply is June 1, 2025

RBPS Activities (In every Banner, we highlight a different activity at RBPS.)

Activity Name: Family Math Night

What is it?: On Tuesday, April 22, the Robert Bateman School Council hosted a ‘Family Math Night’ for K - 6 students and their families. The Grade 6 Leadership Club acted as volunteers and facilitators as students tried different activities and math-themed games. We were pleased by the turnout of over 50 families, and hope that this event will inspire many families to continue adding fun math activities to their routines.
