Happy Passover / Happy Easter
We wish all our RBPS families who are observing Passover this week a wonderful holiday, and Happy Easter to those celebrating at the end of the week.
Outdoor / Indoor Shoes
Now that Spring is here and winter boots are (finally!) going into storage, can we ask that all families continue to send their Bobcats with indoor and outdoor shoes (this could be rubber boots for Spring, or just older running shoes. A lot of the field comes into the school on the bottom of students’ shoes, and can make a real mess in the gym / library / classroom. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Congratulations RBPS Boys & Girls Junior Basketball Teams
Let’s give a big round of applause to our amazing Girls and Boys Basketball Teams for their incredible seasons!
First up, a huge congratulations to our Girls Basketball Team, who played their hearts out at the regional tournament on April 9, and finished in 2nd place! You showed teamwork, determination, and gave it your all—way to go, girls! We are so proud of your effort and achievement!
And let’s not forget our Boys Basketball Team, who battled hard and made it to the quarterfinals at their April 10 regional tournament. Even though it was a close game, your skill, sportsmanship, and perseverance were truly inspiring.
To both teams: Thank you for representing our school with pride, teamwork, and positive attitudes. You make us all proud to be Bateman Bobcats!
Also, thank you to our coaches Mme Boudreau and Mme Irus, with support from Mr. Blundell and Ms Petten: your coaching skill and dedication is appreciated!
RBPS School Council Family Math Night - Tuesday, April 22: 6:00 PM
All RBPS families are invited to Family Math Night with Jump2Math on Tuesday, April 22 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Jump2Math is a kinesthetic, multi-sensory approach to teaching math that incorporates physical exercise, cooperative learning, and giant math stations. Science has proven that combining physical education and math accelerates the development of brain synapses that store and retrieve information. With the program’s activities and games, students literally see the math. They get physical with it. They play with it. They discover the patterns and find solutions on their own and collaboratively in teams. Parents are invited and encouraged to take part in the activities with their child(ren): we hope to see many parents at this FREE event.
NOTE: This is a drop-in event, so feel free to arrive any time after 6:00 PM. Also, many of the activities are ‘walk-on’, so all participants will be asked to leave their shoes at the door.

Supporting Student Success: A Shared Partnership Between Home And School: Arabic-Language Parent Presentation (Thursday, May 1, 6:30 PM)
On Thursday, May 1, our Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) Wejdan Osman will host an Arabic Language presentation for parents. In this presentation, she will discuss a variety of topics and strategies for parents to use at home to support their children’s success at school. This is a rescheduling of the presentation that was originally planned for February, but was postponed due to a severe winter storm. We hope to see many Arabic-speaking parents at this event.
Upcoming Talent Show at RBPS
Back by popular demand, RBPS will again be running a “Welcome to Spring Talent Show.” Tryouts will take place the week of Wednesday, April 23 - April 25 and the show will be on Friday, May 16. Students in all grades are welcome to audition. The committee will only see students who have a planned and practised routine, under 2 minutes. There will be no improvising, which means that students will need to practise ahead of their audition. Talents could include singing, dancing, telling jokes, playing an instrument, doing magic tricks, reciting a poem, showcasing some martial arts, or another special talent. There is usually a lot of interest among the students to take part in the show, which means that some students who try out might not be selected. If your child is interested in auditioning, please discuss with them that not everyone will be selected. Thanks to the teachers for organising this activity, and to all the parents for your support at home.
RBPS Activities (In every Banner, we highlight a different activity at RBPS.)
Activity Name: Black Excellence Assembly by Gr 6 Leadership Club
What is it?: On Friday, April 4th, the Grade 6 Leadership Club presented a multimedia presentation, integrating a shadow play with slideshow pictures and information to shine a spotlight on some of the Black heroes they were inspired by. The Leadership Club worked very hard, using incredible creative problem solving and co-operation to present this important information in a way which engaged the whole school.
