Terry Fox Run at RBPS: Thursday, September 25

The Terry Fox Run is an annual event that takes place at schools all over Canada in an effort to raise money for cancer research and to honour Terry Fox, his Marathon of Hope and his vision of finding a cure for cancer.

On Thursday, September 25, primary students will walk or run around the field, and junior students will do laps around the school. After each lap, they will receive a stamp on a card so they can keep track of how many laps they completed. Please send your child to school with clothing appropriate for the weather and physical activity, as well as a water bottle.

Those wishing to donate can send money to school with your child, (a Toonie for Terry is suggested), or you can donate directly on The RBPS Terry Fox Foundation website.  Thank you for your support to help end this terrible disease.

School Photo Day: Friday, October 3rd

The RBPS School Photo Day will be on Friday, October 3rd. Students will bring home a personal QR code that can be scanned with your mobile device to instantly view your portrait gallery. We hope that all students will be able to attend on this date. There will be a re-take day on October 28th for those students who are away and those who may want their photo redone.

Meet the Families & Staff Evening

We want to invite all of our students and families to our Meet the Families & Staff evening scheduled for Thursday, October 16. From 5:00 - 5:45pm, parents/caregivers are invited to visit their child(ren)'s classrooms and meet the educators.  Our wonderful Parent Council will be hosting a Family Pot-Luck dinner immediately after, from 5:45 - 7:00pm, in the Gym.  Families are invited to bring food to share, and stay to dine and socialize together. This promises to be a great event, and an opportunity for our school community to come together. Many thanks to the Parent Council for organizing!

Homework Club at Greenboro Community Centre

There is a free homework/tutoring program that is being offered by United for Literacy at the Greenboro Community Centre every Monday from 5pm – 6:30 pm - for French and English subjects. Please contact Sarah Brydges at sbrydges@unitedforliteracy.ca for more info.

Pizza Days are back at RBPS!

Our RBPS School Council will once again be running Pizza Days for students. Every Thursday for 18 weeks - from October 9 to February 12 - School Council volunteers will serve cheese pizza to participating students in Kindergarten - Grade 6. The cost for one slice of pizza for 18 weeks is $45. Payment is now available online through SchoolCashOnline, there will also be paper order forms available in the school office. The deadline to order is Wednesday, October 1; no late orders will be accepted. There will be no refunds unless the school is closed for that day. If buses are cancelled, pizza day will be postponed to Friday for that week. If your child is absent, their order will only be available for pick up at the school, if you call the school in the morning before 10am to request that it be put aside.

In addition, the RBPS School Council is looking for volunteers to help on a one-time or regular basis. If you have 45 minutes to help distribute the pizza on Thursdays between 10:15-11:15am, please email sc-robertbatemanps@ocdsb.ca with your contact information.

Voluntary $20 RBPS Student Fee

Robert Bateman PS invites parents/caregivers to contribute a voluntary student fee of $20. These fees are used to support additional activities to enrich the student programs, such as guest speakers and special presentations, and to subsidize field trips. Our request is for a voluntary donation of $20 per student (up to a family maximum of $50). This fee can be sent electronically using Schoolcashonline, or sent as cash / check with your child(ren). Thank you in advance for considering this request.

Kindergarten - Grade 6 Media Permission Forms

We would like to tell the community about the many positive things taking place in our school. We also want to strike the right balance between getting our message out and respecting the wishes of parents/guardians who do not want their children photographed or videotaped or their child’s name, work or photo displayed on the District’s or school’s websites. Please complete this form to let us know your preferences regarding sharing information.

Parent Council Message

Hi Bobcat Parents,

A few words from your Parent Council!

This year is off to a great start. Our first parent council meeting was September 16th and we are pleased to welcome 2 new members to Council this year, Mona Al-nseri and Carolina Steele, in addition to our 4 returning members, Natalie Quaile, Coreena McCallum, Milena Gonzalez and Erin O'Neill. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, October 21st at 6:30pm; join us in the school library or virtually at the link here: zay-cxgm-cif

Every year, Parent Council activities raise funds to support the school. Last year, thanks to all of your support, we raised over $8000.00. The funds raised went to pay for a wide range of needs identified by the teachers, such as, buses for field trips and to sports competitions, Luv 2 Groove, many new books for the library, memory books for the grade 6 grads, sleds for the Kinders and many, many other items. We hope to keep our fundraising at a similar level this year, so here are some of the great activities we have planned for the fall:

Pizza Days will be back. School Cash online orders are available and orders will be due by October 1st, with the first Pizza Day being October 9th!

There will be a Parent Council hosted Family Potluck dinner, following the Meet the Families & Staff Night on October 16th! Bring your family's favorite dish with some extra to share and enjoy a meal with friends!

Mark your calendars, because on November 21st, we will be having a Movie Night at the school. More details on start time and the movie title will be out in the coming week.

Little Caesars Pizza Kits will be back this fall. Look for the order forms to come home with your kids. Little Caesars offers a wide range of frozen make your own Pizza Kits, as well as Crazy Bread, cookies and new this year Cinnastix. Pick up will be on November 21st, following Movie Night.

Hope to see you at one or more of our events!
