Walking School Bus 2017-2018
Robert Bateman Public School's Walking School Bus (WSB) has 2 adult leaders walking students to school every morning. This program is run by the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA), in partnership with Ottawa Public Health, the Ottawa Safety Council and Green Communities Canada. Just like the adult crossing guards, the WSB has paid leaders who have been trained, screened and first-aid certified to walk with the students following a specific route and schedule to school. Walking to school is a safe, convenient, healthy and fun way for your child to travel to school with their friends. It also increases the recommended daily physical activity, which improves overall health.
