Welcome Back To RBPS: January 17, 2022
Posted on 01/14/2022

Dear RBPS Parent(s) / Guardians;

On Monday, January 17, we will welcome Robert Bateman students back to in-person learning: we are looking forward to welcoming your child(ren) back to school!

We will continue to follow our usual COVID safety protocols, such as masking inside and outside, social distancing, hand sanitizing and hand washing, cohorting, and daily screening. In addition to these ongoing protocols, we will also be adding the following protocols, until further notice:

  • Students will return to sitting in rows: short periods of in-class group work will be suspended;
  • We will reinforce the ‘no-talking’ rule during lunch, when students are unmasked;
  • We will return to the daily in-class confirmation of screening. We will send home screening confirmation sheets on Monday for students in Kinder - Gr 2 classes, students in Grades 3-4 will be asked verbally if they completed their daily screening;
  • All staff and students will perform a more rigorous daily online screening;
  • Students / staff who become symptomatic at school (based on the online screening tool) will be required to go home;
  • Custodial staff will perform enhanced daily cleaning.

In addition to safety protocols listed above, we will soon be receiving Rapid Antigen Test Kits for students and staff. When these kits arrive, you will receive further communication, with instructions for their use.

For those families who borrowed Chromebooks, we are pleased that your child(ren) were able to remain connected and engaged with their teachers and classmates through the use of these devices. In order to ensure that we have Chromebooks available  for students to use in-school, we are requesting that all students who borrowed devices to please return them (with chargers) on Monday, January 17. In addition, if your child(ren) borrowed other learning materials, such as whiteboards, markers, or duotangs, could they also return them on Monday. Also, please don’t forget to send indoor shoes and a water-bottle back to school with your child(ren).

If your child will be away from school, could you please let us know in advance by telephone (613-737-3169 dial "1") or by email robertbatemanpsattendance@ocdsb.ca  Letting us know in advance is much appreciated by our hard-working office staff.

We appreciate all the support we continue to receive from our parent community through these challenging times. Stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday.
