Math/Reading/Writing and ELL Summer School Programming
Posted on 05/14/2018

The OCDSB is offering summer school programming for grade 6 students. The program is dynamic, interactive, and has been developed to boost students’ skills in Language Arts and Math. Students who are working at Level 1 and 2, and ELL students at STEP 1 - 3,  are ideal candidates for this full day program (8:30am - 3:35pm). Students will stay connected to their learning through the use of materials and activities that engage students in a positive environment as they prepare for grade 7 Math and Language Arts.

Summer School will begin July 4th and end July 28th.  Grade 6 programming is offered at: Broadview, Glashan, Glen Cairn, Henry Larsen Public Schools, and Sawmill Creek Elementary School. Registration is open April 23rd - June 28th and is coordinated through Robert Bateman PS. Flyers are available in the foyer at school.

There will also be summer school programming for grade 6 English Language Learners. The program will follow the same hours and provide opportunities for students to build confidence as they practice and build oral, reading and writing skills in a positive, interactive setting. Sawmill Creek Elementary School is the site for Grade 6 English Language Learner students working at STEP levels 1 - 3.

Yellow school busses and Presto Passes will be available for grade 6 programs. Transportation details will be available mid-June.

As classroom teachers compile evidence and prepare for end of year reporting, the school team will identify ideal grade 6 candidates for this program and reach out to parent/guardians. In the meantime, if you have questions about the program, contact Kristine (
