Halloween at RBPS (Friday, October 29)

We will be taking a ‘low-key’ approach to Halloween at RBPS this year. On Friday, October 29, students are invited to wear costumes, or dress in orange-and-black, or dress as they normally would. Students who choose to wear a costume should wear it all-day, because changing in and out of costumes is discouraged. We will follow a regular schedule for most of the day, and classes will engage in some special activities at the end of the day (school-wide virtual BINGO, and other class-specific activities). Due to COVID restrictions, there will not be a school-wide costume-parade. Please also note that there can be no sharing of food or exchanging of treats.

We also ask that any costumes do not include masks or makeup, since this will interfere with the required wearing of cloth facemasks. In addition, props and other items that might accompany a costume are discouraged, and as always, prop weapons are prohibited at school.

Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

Terry Fox Week at RBPS

Thank you for your generous donations to the Terry Fox Foundation over the last week. Cash donations will no longer be accepted at school, and the total amount donated will be shared once all donations have been counted.

Online Forms for Completion

Thank you to those parents who have completed the online Appropriate Use of Technology Agreement and the Media/School Website Permission forms. If you have not yet completed these forms, could you please do so at the following links:

Parents and Mask Wearing

As part of our safe drop-off and pick-up program, parents of Kindergarten students and EDP parents are allowed on school property to drop-off and pick-up their children. We would ask that parents wear a cloth mask while they are on school property, including parents who are dropping-off or collecting their child(ren) at the front office.

Mask wearing on the sidewalk in front of RBPS is not required. However, it often becomes crowded at the beginning and end of the day in front of the school, so parents are encouraged to wear masks at this time, given the difficulty of social-distancing.

Occasional Lunch Monitors Wanted

School lunch monitors are RBPS parents and community members who work about 2 hours per day (10:15 AM - 11:15 AM, and 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM) to help supervise students at lunch and recess. All lunch monitors are required to have a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC), complete a COVID-19 vaccine attestation, and complete other OCDSB training on safety procedures, supporting positive behaviour and preventing bullying, and other online training. We are currently in need of lunch monitors who can work on an occasional basis (a few times a week) on short notice. If you are interested in learning more about becoming an occasional lunch monitor at RBPS, please call the school office, or reply to this email.
