Daily Screening

Thanks to all parents for continuing to perform a daily COVID-19 screening every morning to determine if your child(ren) should attend school that day.

Playground Equipment / Library Visits / Group Work

We continue to follow the OPH / OCDSB COVID policies around keeping students and staff safe. Thanks to everyone in the community who has been following OPH guidelines, we have been able to restore some previously suspended practices. For example, in the last few weeks, students have been able to use the playstructures in the Kindergarten and main yard, and our library has opened up for class visits. In the weeks ahead, students will be returning to some in-class groupwork, following OPH guidelines on staying with the same group, and teachers recording group members for contact tracing. We look forward to the gradual return of other pre-pandemic activities in the weeks and months ahead, and we will keep you informed of these changes as they occur.

Terry Fox Week at RBPS: October 18 - 22

During the week of October 18 - 22, students at RBPS will take part in Terry Fox Week. During this week, students will learn about Terry Fox and his story, and run with their class during their regular outdoor Physical Education period. Parents are invited to donate online or send in loonies and toonies with their child(ren) for donation. Please note that these donations are voluntary, and we will not be comparing donation amounts between classes.

COVID-19 Home-Test Kits Available at RBPS

The City of Ottawa and OPH are working to make it easier for families to conduct COVID 19 tests. Robert Bateman School has been given a supply of take-home testing kits, which are available for all Robert Bateman students and their families. If your child(ren) or any member of your household requires a COVID test, you may pick up a test kit from school, perform the test outside the school, and drop the completed test back off at school. Tests will be picked up daily by OPH, and results will be available online. There are easy to follow instructions, and those who have used the tests so far say they are quick and easy.

Robert Bateman Snack Program

Robert Bateman will continue to provide a snack program every morning for students to ensure that they are well fed and ready to learn. The program has been approved by the OCDSB and Ottawa Public Health in collaboration with the Ottawa Network for Education. Foods provided meet the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) Student Nutrition Guidelines and focus on fruit/vegetables, protein and whole grain foods.

Please note, students should still come to school with a lunch, this is simply a small supplement to a healthy lunch. Please complete this form if you would like your child(ren) to participate.
