RBPS Art Showcase - Virtual Tour
Thank you for being part of our May 3 Art Showcase event. Most of our families were in attendance, and we were gratified that so many of you made this event a part of your day.
For those of you who were not able to attend, or if you would like to experience it again, we are pleased to announce that all the art from this event has been added to this Virtual Art Showcase. Thank you Mme Emily Axford for all of your work in taking these pictures, and then creating this beautiful website. We invite you to take a tour of this site with your child(ren), and hope you enjoy the fine work of all the young artists at RBPS. Special thanks to all the Kindergarten - Grade 6 teachers who guided the creation of these works of art.
Junior Soccer at RBPS
This week, our Girls and Boys Junior Soccer Teams will compete against other schools in the OCDSB Southeast Division. We appreciate the hard work of our coaches Mme Boudreau, Mme Irus, and Ms Petten in running tryouts, making the very difficult selection decisions, and coaching the teams to prepare for these events!
School Council News: Upcoming Movie Night
The Robert Bateman School Council would like to thank all the parents / caregivers who responded to the survey at the Art Showcase event. Based on parent responses, we will be combining two events. The School Council will be running a Family Movie night on Thursday June 8 (movie selection TBA). This event will be in support of the Pavilion Food Bank, so admission will be food items for families in need.
Please mark your calendar for June 8th 2023: doors will open at 5:30. Please bring blankets, pj’s, stuffies, to join us for this event. We are finalizing the selection of the movie, we will also be sending a pre-order form for pizza, and popcorn will also be sold. More details will be coming out soon.
Thank you RBPS School Council for Luv2Groove Workshops
We would like to say THANK YOU to RBPS School Council for your generous support of the Luv2Groove workshops. Last week all the students from Kindergarten to Grade 6 took part in a series of HipHop dance workshops, which ran all day from Monday - Friday, and were entirely paid for through the generosity of the RBPS School Council. Thank you also to the families who buy pizza and support other School Council initiatives: your support is what allows us to run these special events for our students.
GetREAL 2SLGBTQ+ Inclusivity Workshop
This Friday May 19 is the GetREAL workshop for Grade 4 - 6 students. GetREAL is a Canadian non-profit organization focused on combating 2SLGBTQ+ discrimination and bullying, and has been a partner with the OCDSB for a number of years. During this virtual (live online) workshop, presenters will build on the power of personal stories to spread kindness, celebrate uniqueness, and support one another. This workshop also introduces 2SLGBTQ+ identities in an age appropriate way, and shows students they can be an ally at any age and make a difference. This workshop supports the goals of the OCDSB Human Rights Roadmap, and our ongoing work at Robert Bateman PS to build a discrimination-free school community where all students, staff, and families are valued and supported.
Welcome Vice-Principal Darla Fuller to RBPS for 23/24
We are pleased to share that Ms Darla Fuller will be joining the RBPS team as our Vice-Principal in September. Vice-Principals are assigned to schools based on a variety of factors, with student population being the main criteria. Because of our growing population, Ms Fuller will be joining our team. Ms Fuller currently works as an instructional coach with the OCDSB Program and Learning Department, and has taught a variety of grades throughout her teaching career. We look forward to welcoming Ms Fuller to the RBPS family in September.
