School Reorganisation Update: New Staff

In the week before March Break, we welcomed two new teachers to the RBPS family. Ms Vera Li moved from Blue Kindergarten into the Grade 2/3 English Homeroom class until the end of June. Mme Emily Axford joined the RBPS team as the new French teacher in the Blue Kindergarten class, and Mme Sarah Laframboise joined RBPS as our new Core French and Early French Immersion (EFI) teacher. Ramadan Mubarak!

This week will mark the beginning of Ramadan for Muslims around the world. Here at RBPS, we are working to ensure that our learning environment is supportive to all students, including those students who will be fasting. All students, whether fasting or not, are welcome to remain in their classrooms during the lunch period. For students who are fasting and would prefer to spend their lunch period in a space where students are not eating, the 2nd floor annex, overlooking the library, will be open and supervised. Students may choose to spend their lunch periods in the annex, where they may read, quietly chat with friends, or engage in other quiet activities. For students in Grades 5 and 6, parent permission to go to the annex for the lunch period is not required, For students in Grade 4 and below, we would ask that parents send an email, or call the office, to indicate that their child(ren) have permission to use the fasting space. The use of the prayer space for students in Grades 5 and 6 will also continue, and may be relocated to a larger space if needed

Springtime at RBPS

Spring officially arrives on Monday afternoon, and we can expect a mix of both warm and cool wet weather in the month(s) ahead. Students will go outside for recess (or outdoor play, in Kindergarten) when there is light rain, and will stay indoors when there is heavy rain, so please continue to make sure your child(ren) are dressed for the weather.

Parent/Caregiver School Climate Survey Ends This Week

We would like to hear your voice as part of the school climate survey!

The final day to complete the OCDSB Parent/Caregiver School Climate Survey is Friday, March 24. This is a voluntary and anonymous online survey for parents, guardians, and caregivers of students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. The purpose of the survey is to give parents, guardians and caregivers an opportunity to provide feedback about their family’s and their child’s experiences with the school.  To find out more information, please visit the FAQ page or contact [email protected]

Role: Core French and Early French Immersion (EFI) Teacher

Time at Robert Bateman: 3 weeks

Background: I grew up in Toronto and moved to Ottawa in 2020. I have just arrived at Robert Bateman, coming from teaching both French Immersion and Core French classes, and I am so excited to join the RBPS community! Go Bobcats!

Interesting Fact: I love to knit! I make hats, scarves, sweaters, you name it. I even made a sweater for my puppy this past winter break!
