Final Bobcat Banner of 2022 / 2023:
There are only three school days remaining in the school year, so this will be the final Bateman Bobcat Banner of 2022 / 2023. This year, things have largely returned to normal after two years of COVID restrictions, and the resumption of clubs, sports, trips, and other activities has been welcomed by students and staff alike.
Through it all, we have valued your partnership as we work together to provide a relevant, engaging, and challenging education for your child(ren).
I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Eid al-Adha Mubarak to our families who will be celebrating Eid this week. If your child(ren) will be away from school this week, could you please either leave a message at 613-737-3169 or email the details of your child(ren)’s absence to [email protected]. Ms Stephanie and Ms Sandra in the office must call home for any child who is absent from school without an email, and they would like to thank you in advance for letting them know who will be away.
To those who are moving on from Robert Bateman, including the Grade 6 families and Grade 3 families leaving the PSN class, the entire RBPS staff wishes you all the best, and we hope that the time you spent as Bobcats will serve you well in the future.
On behalf of the entire staff, have a wonderful relaxing summer, stay safe, and - for those of you who are returning - we will see you in September.
Jeff Griesbach (Mr. G)
Second Term Progress Reports
On Wednesday, June 28, you will receive an email inviting you to view your child(ren)’s Term Two Progress Reports (or Communication of Learning for Kindergarten students).
These reports will be available through the online portal. You will need your child(ren)’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to access the report cards; it can be found on previous report cards. If you do not have your child’s OEN, please contact the school office by email, [email protected] to receive this information.
Staff Appreciation Luncheon
On behalf of all the staff, I would like to extend our sincere thanks for the *very* generous luncheon organized by the RBPS School Council and provided by our parent community. All the staff at RBPS were touched by your generosity and thoughtfulness.
Community Dental Screenings
Community Dental Screenings activities will continue over the summer at Neighbourhood Health and Wellness Hubs. Dental screenings are free and all ages are welcome. Registered dental hygienists can also support clients with the Healthy Smiles Ontario and Ontario Seniors Dental Care Plan enrollments.
A full schedule for services and locations of Neighbourhood Health and Wellness Hubs is available here.
Staff Farewells
The end of the school year means saying goodbye not just to our Grade 6 students, but to staff members who will be leaving the RBPS family.
We say farewell to our Registered Early Childhood Educators Ms Wilguite Noel and Ms Muna Mahamoud-Djibril. Both Ms Wilguite and Ms Muna will be moving on to other schools with a core day Kindergarten program: we thank them both for all their support of our ‘Kinder Bobcats’ and wish them all the best in their new assignments.
We also say farewell to Mme Emily Axford, Mme Brianne Boddison-Chouinard, Mme Fiona Johnstone, Ms Vera Li, and Ms Anne Widdifield, as their Long-Term Occasional (LTO) teaching assignments conclude this month. We thank Mme Axford for her work with our Blue Kindergarten class, Mme Brianne for her work with our Junior EFI classes, Mme Fiona for teaching the Grade 1/2 EFI class, Ms Li for teaching the Grade 2/3 English class, and Ms Widdifield for teaching English and Math to the Grade 1/2 and 3/4 EFI classes: you will be missed, and we wish you all the best in your teaching careers ahead.
We also say thank you to Ms Rafah Othman and Ms Leila Sugulle as their term Educational Assistant assignments conclude this month. We appreciate all the patience and empathy you have demonstrated in working with our Bobcats with exceptionalities.
Farewell also to Ms Joey Cao, who will be moving to a new Kindergarten class in Kanata, Ms Kimberly Stagg who will be leaving our PSN class for a Grade 3 class also in Kanata. And Ms Sarah Laframboise who is moving to an intermediate school. You will all be missed, and your new schools will be fortunate to have you on staff.
Ms Elizabeth Rozek is leaving Robert Bateman PS and the OCDSB for a move to Hamilton, Ontario. Ms Elizabeth has shown so much dedication in working with our students who need extra support: you will be missed, and we wish you all the best in your next chapter.
We also say not goodbye but ‘see you soon’ to Ms Angela Petten, who will be away from Robert Bateman for the 23/24 school year. We wish you safe travels, and look forward to welcoming you back in September 2024.
Our staffing process for all employee groups (Teachers, Educational Assistants, and Early Childhood Educators) is currently underway, and we will share the names of the new RBPS staff for 23/24 in the next Bateman Bobcat Banner, which will arrive in late August, 2023).
