Final Bobcat Banner of 2021

It’s hard to believe that the first four months of school are drawing to a close: it has been a pleasure to have all the students back in-person. Thanks to everyone in Ottawa who have been following COVID protocols, we have been able to return to ‘normal’ in many elements of our school day (i.e. increasing groupwork in class, library visits, equipment at recess, etc.). Thanks also for the trust you place in us everyday when you send your child(ren) to learn in a safe and caring school community.

Winter Weather Clothing

Now that winter weather has fully arrived, please check that your child(ren) have hats, mits, winter boots, and snowpants, in addition to their winter coats. Sometimes at recess, students get warm while playing and want to take off their coats or other winter gear, but until Spring arrives, staff will be asking students to keep all of  their winter gear on throughout recess. Thanks for your cooperation in reminding your child(ren) of the importance in keeping all their gear on when outside. Please also help us to return lost items to students by ensuring that their name is on all their items of clothing.

RBPS Food Drive / Fundraiser for Pavilion Food Bank

Our annual December Food Drive is off to a great start.  On our first day we raised over $600!

This year we will be collecting donations online in addition to cash and cheques. As well, we will be collecting donations of non-perishable, unopened food items. Donations will be accepted until Tuesday, December 14th.

How to donate online using School Cash Online:

  • Parents who already registered with School Cash Online in a previous school year should have received an email with a link to make a donation, if you did not receive this email, please contact the office;
  • Parents who would like to register with School Cash Online for the first time can click here to register. If you are having trouble registering, please contact the school office.
  • Parents who do not wish to register with School Cash Online can click on here to donate.

In our school lobby We have started a “Build A Bag” display in the front lobby: the grocery bag will grow with every monetary or food donation made. We hope to have a GIANT bag when the food/fundraiser ends on December 14th.

In addition to helping those in need, this Food Drive is also an example to our students of how we build a community together: thank you all for your support.

RBPS School Council Meeting: Thursday, December 9, 6:30 PM

The next RBPS School Council meeting will be on Thursday, December 9 at 6:30 PM. All parents / guardians are invited to attend this (online) meeting. IMPORTANT: In order to be added to our email distribution list to receive the Google Meets invite link, please email your rsvp to rbpsscsecretary@gmail.com

The minutes of past School Council meetingsare posted on the School Council section of the RBPS Website.

Upcoming COVID 19 Vaccine Clinics (Information from Ottawa Public Health)

Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is hosting after-school COVID-19 vaccination clinics for students aged 5 to 11 years, their families, and the community. COVID-19 vaccinations are available for students, and members of the community that are born in 2016 or earlier. Drop-in appointments are available on a first come first-served basis during clinic hours. If the clinic is very busy, appointment cards may be given with a return time.

Every individual who receives their COVID-19 vaccination helps bring Ottawa one step closer to community immunity. Being fully vaccinated will help protect your children and their school community. If your child is fully vaccinated and is exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID-19, they likely do not need to stay home and self-isolate as long as they do not have symptoms.

Clinic Details:

  • Date: Tuesday, December 7, 2021
  • Location: Robert Bateman Public School
  • Address: 1250 prom. Blohm Dr.
  • Start: 3:30 PM
  • End: 7:25 PM

Parent or guardian consent is required for children aged 5 to 11 years, and this is provided at the clinic.

After-school clinics have limited capacity; families are encouraged to book at a community clinic through the provincial booking website or a participating pharmacy if this is a convenient option. Please visit OttawaPublicHealth.ca/COVID19Vaccine for other clinic locations and times.

Please visit OttawaPublicHealth.ca/ChildCovid19Vaccine for information on vaccine safety, frequently asked questions, a virtual tour of COVID-19 vaccination clinics for kids 5-11 and an info session on the COVID-19 Vaccine for Kids 5-11. To speak to a public health nurse about the vaccine you can call OPH at 613-580-6744.

Thank you,

Ottawa Public Health
