School History

Our school is named after the eminent Canadian wildlife artist, Robert Bateman. This large, modern facility opened in 1991 and serves the community of Hunt Club. We currently have approximately 320 students with a teaching staff of 21. Our facilities include large bright classrooms, resource centers, a beautiful library and a computer lab. Our location, on 2.15 hectares of land, provides ample outdoor play space for our students.

Our programs include English/Core French for grades JK to Grade 6, Early French Immersion for Grades SK to 6, as well as Special Education and English as a Second Language.

Our community is proudly diverse, with more than 35 languages spoken in the homes of our students. We have a very active and supportive School Council and work closely with them to provide the best programs and activities for our students. We welcome volunteers to work in partnership with us to provide positive, caring and safe educational experiences for all of our students.

Robert Bateman is actively involved in this wonderful school that bears his name. Each year, he sends an award for an outstanding student in each of our graduating classes, in the form of a signed original coloured sketch. Our students, through their educational programs and extracurricular activities, try to follow his leadership and inspiration in a commitment to care for and celebrate the environment. Our school colours of blue and green are a visible reminder of this!
